The Club

The Rotary Club of Retford is part of a network of over 35,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide which provide charitable support and service to a variety of good causes in their local area and worldwide, as well as providing friendship and fellowship to members.

The club has over 70 current members ranging in age from 30 years upwards, mainly drawn from local business and the professions. Each year we raise and disperse around £100,000 to charities, community organisations, families and individuals.

In addition to the numerous charitable service and social events which it takes part in throughout the year, the club also meets every Monday evening at 6.30pm at Ye Olde Bell Hotel, Barnby Moor DN22 8QS.

There are 60 Rotary Clubs in Rotary District 1220 which covers our region. Recently the Rotary District Governor made 14 awards  to recognise the achievements of clubs in the last 12 months. Three of these awards were given to Retford Rotary Club In the last 12 months.

The first award was for the Best all round Club in the District. This recognised the range and nature of the projects and activities undertaken by the Club .

The second award was for the best Rotakids project. The purpose of Rotakids is to promote activities in schools to  encourage children to help others and to improve the environment. Currently 11 local primary schools  participate in the project.

The third award was Best Community  Projects and Public Relations. The projects cited were the Music Festival (4 music events on successive weekends in October 2022); the Victorian Christmas Fayre; the Santa Run;
and the Swimathon, which attracted 280 swimmers and raised £14000 for local charities.  The award was also given for the effective publicity given to these event.
